3. If you submit an application using Common Application an electronic transcript will be uploaded. The counselor’s email must be submitted correctly to these accounts. After submission the student must follow up with the counselor. anna.bryant@stpsb.org

4. If you are applying to an in state public university, they should be able to access your transcript in the official transcript system. However, sometimes schools will still request a transcript.

5. If you need an official transcript mailed to the college then you will need to submit a transcript request. Mrs. Bryant handles transcript requests through her Google Classroom Requests to See Mrs. Bryant form. $2 Transcript fee applies to mail transcripts.

6. If a college requires an official ACT test report and does not have your scores, then you will need to log into your ACT online account and pay to have them sent to the college.

7. 2O25-2O26 FAFSA application is now open. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and select “Start a New FAFSA”. Most colleges require this for any financial aid to be given and it is also the TOPS application. You will complete the FAFSA for the year you are entering college.

· Here are some things to consider when researching colleges.

· Where do you want to live? Do you want to live on campus? Do you want to commute from home? Do you want to stay nearby? Do you want to go out of state?

· Do you want to attend a college that is public, private, technical, large, small, liberal arts, historically black, religiously affiliated?

· Does the college offer majors that interest you? What about extracurricular activities?

· What is the cost of tuition? What types of financial aid are available at the college? How does the cost fit in with your current available finances?

· What are the requirements for admission? How selective is the college admittance? What are the average GPA and test scores of those admitted to the college?

· Are there special programs that interest you such as study abroad or internships?

Creating TOPS Tracker

· We strongly encourage students to create a LOSFA Student Hub Account in order to track their progress in earning a TOPS award.

· To create your account, go to www.osfa.la.gov and click on “student hub” in the menu across the top of the LOSFA homepage and follow the instructions.

· The “TOPS TRACKER” within the LOFSA Student Hub will allow you to follow your progress towards earning a TOPS award. Students and parents should check their information to make sure it is correct.

· Be aware that TOPS awards are based on TOPS CORE GPA and not overall GPA. The GPA is not rounded up or down.

· For guidance on how to correct TOPS errors, check with your counselor for corrected grades or email them to update test scores at: custserv@la.gov

PSAT Info

· Who can test?

10th Graders interested in taking the PSAT as a practice test and 11th graders
Typically, students take the PSAT/NMSQT in 10th and 11th grade. Taking the test allows them to start improving skills and knowledge needed for success in college and career. Students can take the test only once a year.
Why should students take the PSAT/NMSQT?
- The PSAT/NMSQT offer great preparation for the SAT. The PSAT also provides students and their teachers with actionable information about their academic skills. Student who take the PSAT/NMSQT will receive an online score report. They will receive an overall test score as well as individual section scores, test scores, cross-test scores, and sub-scores. Students will be able to see which answers they got right or wrong. They will also get information on how to improve their academic skills. Students who take the PSAT/NMSQT in their third year of high school (11th grade) and meet other program entry requirements may enter the National Merit Scholarship Program. They may also qualify for other programs such as the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
ANY 11TH GRADE STUDENT THAT WANTS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP MUST TAKE THE PSAT/NMSQT DURING THEIR JUNIOR YEAR.
When and how do I register?
- Any student interested in taking the PSAT needs to see Ms. Chambliss in the counseling office to pick up a consent form. The test costs $18 and can be paid for on your MyPaymentsPlus portal. Registration for PSAT will be Tuesday, September 3^rd – Friday, Oct 4^th. Once both the signed consent form and payment have been received, a student will receive confirmation that they are registered to take the test. Work Permit Information

Every student under 18 years old must obtain a work permit before starting a new job. However, the work permit cannot be obtained until the student actually gets a job.

Summer School Registration Information

Registration in STPPS summer school is available for currently enrolled students in grades 9-12.

No fee for summer school 2023.

All summer session courses are offered online only.

Summer School online coursework can be done from any home computer with internet access.

Students/Parents are responsible for computer with internet access.

Registration Information:

• Students can take a maximum of 2 half-credit repeat courses in the summer - either an A or B semester credit recovery course. New core and elective credits are not offered in summer school.

• Parents/guardians are responsible for enrolling their child in the correct summer course(s). The application must have the Principal/School Designee signature.

• Dropping a course BEFORE the session has begun may be requested in writing by a parent/guardian. The grade will not be recorded on the student’s transcript if dropped BEFORE the session begins.

• If the parent/guardian drops the course AFTER the session begins, the grade will be recorded on the student’s transcript.

Summer School Information

Summer Session Information:

• All repeat credit courses in the summer session are offered as credit recovery (CR) courses only.

• The Louisiana Department of Education only allows students a maximum of seven CR units to be applied towards diploma graduation requirements.

• The online CR courses are self-paced and allow the students to “test” out of material they have mastered. In areas that the students do not master, the students will be assigned lessons to review their skills.

• If students are enrolled in two CR courses, the courses are offered concurrently during the session.

• Student coursework is available online 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is self-paced. There are no makeup dates if the students fail to complete the course(s) by the end of the summer session.

• How long students spend working in the course(s) determines how quickly the students will finish the course(s). If the students complete the course(s) before the end of the session, they are done with with summer school.

• The students MUST complete the course. If the student fails to complete all assignments, tests, and the final exam, zeros will be given for all incomplete work.

• Final grades are reported to the student’s school. Parents/guardians and students are responsible for checking with their school counselor at the beginning of the school year to make sure summer school grades have been added to their transcript.

• Parents/guardians are responsible for tracking their student’s progress in Edgenuity.

• Tutoring is available by the assigned teacher via Google Meets. To request assistance, please email the teacher and request help.

• Students must check their STPSB Gmail account daily.
