School Uniform Specifications
ID CARDS are REQUIRED TO BE WORN next to collar of shirt!
Tops:(Both Boys and Girls)
- Polo style shirt with collar. Color options: Forest green, white or gray(ash or heather)
- Logo optional but recommended. Only SHS logo permitted; no other logo permitted.
- White oxford, button down collared shirt (long or short sleeve) with or without the logo is also acceptable, must be buttoned at all times, not worn as outerwear.
- Long sleeve turtleneck or t-shirts may be worn under the uniform shirt. These shirts must be forest/hunter green, gray, white or black.
- Winter outerwear (jackets, coats, sweaters, etc.) is acceptable but must open down the front, if pullover style, it must be plain or have SHS logo, hunter green, gray or white. However, the school uniform shirt must still be worn under the outerwear.
- Shirts do not have to be tucked in, but must not hang down pass the pockets of the bottoms.
Bottoms: Boys
Cotton twill pants or shorts in regular Khaki or the lighter color, commonly known as sand are allowed. Pants may not be decorated in any manner. No other colors or fabrics are allowed. Pants must be secured at waist.
Bottoms: Girls
Cotton twill pants, shorts, skirts or Capri pants are allowed. The bottoms must be the regular Khaki color or the lighter color known as sand. Other colors or fabrics are not allowed. Bottoms must not be low cut at the waist, with skin exposed between the bottom and shirt, when arms are ectended above head. Plaid Skirts-A specfic plaid & pleated style skirt was chosen by a student committee and may be ordered from ABC School Uniforms, TOS in the mall or School Time. The skirts are approved for the fall 07-08 year. Only the The PLAID and STYLE SELECTED WILL BE ALLOWED. These uniform skirts must meet the STPSB dress code on length. (finger tip)
Career Academy Interns:
Seniors in Career Academies may wear their appropriate Career Academy uniform on Intern Days. The principal must approve the shirt. All bottoms must be as per the specifications above with the exception of the Allied Health Academy interns who wear "scrub" bottoms.
Spirit, Club, Class, Game-Days:
Certain days will be designated as Club Days, Class Days, Spirit Days and days of athletic games. When thes days are designated, approved t-shirts, jerseys, uniforms, etc. may be worn as tops. Bottoms will remain the same as indicated above. The club sponsor, class sponsor, or coach must make as application the principal in advance in order to wear club, class or athletic jerseys.
NJROTC Uniforms:
Thursday of each week has been designated as the day for Naval Science students to wear their NJROTC uniforms. These uniforms must meet the specifications of the Naval Science Instructor.
St Tammany Parish School Board Dress Code Regulations:
All St Tammany Parish School Board Dress code Regulations will continue to be in effect. Students who are not in compliance with the school dress code/uniform policy will be disciplined as follows:
1st offense: Detention and Parental Contact
2nd offense: Saturday Detention and Parental Contact
3rd offense: Suspension (in-house or out of school-at the principal's discretion)
4th offense: Multiple infractions constitute; non-compliance with the handbook, disrepect for authority, and insubordination. A forth offense may result in a three to five day suspension. Subsequent offenses will result in severe disciplinary action.
Notice: For Security Reasons tops will not be allowed to fall below the pockets or where the pockets would be on a regular pair of pants/shorts.
