015Beautification-Clean up days
We have two Saturday Beautification-Clean up days left before graduation on Thursday, May 14th. Saturday, May 2nd & Saturday May 9th are our annual “Campus Spruce Up for Spring” days.
(May 2nd is also the Keep Slidell Beautiful (KSB) day for the City of Slidell).
All our Clubs and Organizations have a big role in beautifying the campus – as each of you has a garden assigned and responsibilities to update, maintain, and periodically beautify it.
Please get your gardens manicured – the campus is looking a little rougher than normal at this time of the year - we see there are many areas that need sprucing up, and some areas that need serious additional attention!
Please see Mr Percy or Coach Grubb directly if you have specific needs for your area or project.
8:30 to 12:00 noon are the schedules work times on those days.

Congratulations to the SHS Band & Color Guard
I would like to thank and congratulate the band for their hard work and their success this year! The Color Guard placed 5th in the state during their competition. In two categories they had the top scores in the state. There were 6 band students who made the district or the parish honor band this year. Ashby Glover, Morrice Boutan , Tim Neighbor, Mark Porter, Nick McKnight, and Shannon Downey. The symphonic band scored straight superior ratings on stage at the competition two weeks ago. Superior is the highest possible rating. The band marched more than 25 miles of parades this year and we had many compliments from the public regarding the bands performance. Our band is back to pre-Katrina numbers and growing. I would like to thank Mr. Wild and all the band members for their school spirit and for what they provide to our school community!!!!! wcp

Congratulations Team 3946 Tiger Robotics
I would like to share our community’s accomplishment this weekend. 41 Slidell High students and 10 coaches from our community came together in October with the goal of fielding a competitive team. We were given a new sport and 6 weeks to design, build, and test an athlete to play this game.
We are a young team with little experience and relatively low funding. Despite this, your students worked 15-20 hours a week for 3 months preparing for this event. The coaches were literally hands off this entire season and tournament. All of the design, metal work, wiring, and programming was done solely by students.
We entered the FRC Bayou Regional with playoff hopes, and entered the playoffs on an alliance with Destrehan High and a school from Arkansas. In the finals we competed against an alliance of teams from Gulfport, Biloxi, and Nachez. In a best of 3 scenario we won 177-166 and 160-158.
Onward to the International Championship Tournament April 22-25 in St Louis!
The faculty and staff deserve a the lion’s share of the credit for developing a diverse, passionate, and gracious student body. I was thanked 14 times personally by event staff and other team coaches for our team's effort in volunteering to assist other teams or the event staff in a variety of functions. I am passing those on to you.
Our banner is hanging in room 610 until we figure out where we are hanging it if you want to come see.

SHS Support Employee of the Year
It is now official! Mrs. Kirk has been named the High School Support Employee of the Year for the 2014-15 School Year. The award is very much deserved!---Eunice has many jobs---Handling substitutes is just one of her many responsibilities---and she does it very well, impacting all of us.

Prostart Gumbo Cook Off
Congratulations to the Prostart classes on their recent win at the Northshore Gumbo Cookoff. All of the classes prepared gumbo, and four students worked hard on Saturday morning to cook the best gumbo on the Northshore. . The cook-off is a fundraising event benefiting Slidell Little Theater, the National Association of Women in Construction's north shore chapter and the Homeless Outreach for Youth in St. Tammany. This is the second win for Slidell high School!
Girls Varsity Soccer
The Girls Varsity Soccer team has made playoffs this year!
We congratulate the Lady Tigers, their hard work, and especially the graduating seniors (Mia Navarre, Jessica Harris and Katie Kern) and Coach Tanna Adams McNeese (SHS alumni and a member of the SHS team to be in the last play off game 10 years ago).
2014-15 SHS Student of the Year
Harrison Folse has been chosen as our Student of the Year. Although he was not the overall winner for the district, he did a wonderful job of representing our school. In case you are not aware, a great deal of time goes into creating the applicant’s portfolio.
On another note, Harrison was also one of a few students across our state chosen as a WWLTV A+ Athlete. His segment appeared on TV over the weekend but is also available for viewing by visiting wwltv.com .
