Same as World History but more advanced. Selected events are studied in detail in this class and student presentations are emphasized along with critical thinking.

This survey course includes an examination of world history from the Age of Discovery to the present with an emphasis on the humanities, such as art, literature, and relilgion of western society. A seminar approach, incorporating the use of in-depth readings, research, critical analysis of historical events, simulations, and dramatizations will be used. Upon completion of this course, students should possess a greater awareness of the impact of history on modern civilizations.
American History (2170 A – 2180 B)

This is a survey course that examines American history from the Civil War to the present. The study will be chronological. Students will analyze the themes of American history that tie historical events and developments to one another.

Recommended: Above average grades in English and Social Studies This is a survey course that concentrates on the period from the Civil War to the present. Selected events in American History are studied in detail in this class. Critical thinking and writing skills are emphasized.
American History – Advanced Placement (2260 A – 2270 B)

Recommendation course with an above average grades in English and Social Studies.
AP History is a challenging course that is meant to be the equivalent of a freshman college course and can earn students college credit. It is a two- semester survey of American history from the age of exploration and discovery to the present. Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and study, are necessary to succeed. Emphasis is placed on critical and evaluative thinking skills, essay writing, interpretation of original documents, and historiography. A short research paper linking American literature and history is required.
American History -Gifted (7650 A - 7660 B)
Grade 11

This survey course in American History stresses the evolution of political institutions and behavior and public policy, social and economic change, diplomacy and international relations, and cultural and intellectual development from Colonial times to present days. The course provides a chronological and thematic coverage through the use of supplementary materials. Students will be expected to draw from a reservoir of systematic factual knowledge and to exercise analytical skills. The primary focus is from 1865 to the present.
