Biology (3410 A – 3420 B)

The student will use process skills in a laboratory setting to develop an understanding and knowledge of living things. First semester includes a study of ecology, the chemistry of life, cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics. Second semester includes the study of evolution, taxonomy, the anatomy and physiology of living things, and human systems.
Biology – Honors (3470 A – 3480 B)
Grades 10, 11, 12
1 year
Recommendation course. Prerequisites: Honors Physical Science with a “C” or better average; Algebra I with a “C” or better average; or Physical Science with a “B” or better average.
Lab Fee, $10
The course relies heavily on laboratory work and the development of critical reasoning in students. The course includes a study of basic cell structure and function, genetic continuity, an analysis of development and evolution, a study of diversity among animals and plants, human anatomy and physiology, microbiology and ecology.
Biology II (3681A - 3682 A)
Grades 11, 12
1 semester

Recommendation course. Prerequisites: Students should have “B’s” or better in Biology I
This course is designed for students interested in further biological study and the medical field. The course emphasizes human anatomy and physiology.
Biology II Advanced Placement (3684 A – 3685 B)
Grade 10, 11, 12
1 year
Lab Fee, $10
Recommendation course. Students should have an A or B average in Biology.
The AP Biology course is designed to be the equivalent of a two-semester college introductory biology course. The course will include molecules, cells, heredity, evolution, organisms, and population. Students will be encouraged to take the AP Biology Examination.
