This is a recommendation course.
This course includes as examination of the history and role of the media. Hands-on instruction includes design, photojournalism, writing, sales, marketing, and advertising. Practical experiences include preparing press releases and photographs for local news outlets, producing the yearbook, and promoting the school to the community. Students must have strong organizational and writing skills as meeting deadlines is essential to success in the course. Students have the opportunity to earn industry certification in desktop publishing and photography.
Advanced Communications (1805 S)

Prerequisite: "B" average in English. This course requires recommendation by your English teacher.
Students will be introduced to broadcast media. Students will learn broadcast media, learn broadcast news, terminlology, video camera basics, creating sets, storyboarding, editing techniques, advertising techniques, and public relations skills. Students will use Avid, MovieMaker, and Pinnacle editing systems as well as PowerPoint and Publisher to complete projects.
