Prerequisite: Completion of Art I A (drawing with a "C" average) before taking Art I B
Art Supply fee: $8.00 per semester
Art I A (Basic Drawing) covers technical drawing skill of line, shape, basic printmaking, texture, and value in realistic life drawings.
Art I B (Basic Color Theory) covers psychology of color and color relationships using colored pencils, tempera paint and pastels.
Art II (5850 A; 5860 B)
Grades 10, 11, 12
1 semester electives
Prerequistes: Art I (A and B) with a “C” average
Art Supply fee: $8.00 per semester
Both are recommendation courses
Art II A (Graphic Arts) covers principles and elements of design, graphic arts and commercial art.
ART II B (Basic Sculpture) covers three dimensional design using clay, paper mache, plaster, and a variety of sculpture materials.
Art III (5880 A; 5890 B)
Grades 11, 12
Prerequistes: Completion of Art I (A and B) and Art II with a “B” average
Art Supply fee: $8.00 per semester
Both are recommendation courses.
Art III A (Advanced Drawing/ Commercial Design) is a continuation of Basic Drawing with an emphasis on originality and creativity and critical analysis of art work.
Art III B (Advanced Color/Painting) is a continuation of the study of color using tempera paints, watercolor, acrylics and mixed media.
Art IV Advanced Placement (5960 A; 5970 B)
Program in studio
Grade 12
Prerequistes: Art l, Art ll, and Art lll (with a “B” average) and teacher approval.
Art Supply fee: $8.00 per semester
Both are recommendation courses
Art IV A (Studio Art) helps serious art students fine tune their creative skills and develop portfolios of quality work for college admissions.
Art IV B (Advanced Sculpture) is a continuation of three dimensional design with the use of clay, paper mache, plaster, wire and relief carving, found object construction and theater prop construction.
Fine Arts Survey Art (5940 S)
Grades 11, 12
1 semester elective
Art Supply fee: $8.00
Fine Arts Survey – Music (5950 S) will be taken the opposite semester to fulfill TOPS requirements.
This course is an introduction to visual arts; the development, history, philosophy, elements and principles of art, and the production of art work in various media.
Commercial Art Internship (6662A – 6663 B) (9547A – 9548 B)
Internship: 2 hour block
Grade 12
Prerequisite for both Paths: Successful completion of Computer Applications
(Students may be taking prerequisite courses while interning their senior year )
